VA disability claims are applications submitted to the VA requesting that an illness or disability which occurred in or was aggravated by service be recognized by the VA. There are three critical elements which must be present to submit a disability claim; service in the military, a medically diagnosed disability, and a link or nexus to the Veteran’s service.
The VA Veterans Pension program provides monthly payments to wartime Veterans who meet certain age or disability requirements, and who have income and net worth within certain limits.
The VA Survivors Pension program provides monthly payments to qualified surviving spouses and unmarried dependent children of wartime Veterans who meet certain income and net worth limits set by Congress.
VA Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits provide monthly payments added to the amount of a monthly VA pension for qualified Veterans and survivors.

It is essential for all Veterans and their families to have military discharge documents. Without these documents, it is virtually impossible to apply for any VA benefits. We can help Veterans or family members submit requests for copies of military discharge documents as well as provide assistance if Veterans or family members believe the characterization of discharge should be changed due to extenuating or mitigating circumstances.

The Berkshire Veteran Outreach Center offers a free weekly food & clothing pantry for veterans. Our pantry is open Thursdays from 11am to 1pm, and we are proud to offer our services to veterans in need. We provide a variety of canned goods, dry goods, and non-perishable items.
